Rocks and Latin

I  can't get over how breathtakingly beautiful the cold, November, full moon ocean is.

36x30 acrylic on canvas

Here is the start of another. The artist Abraham Bogdanove, is my inspiration. he was a Russian painter that moved to NYC and Monhegan Island in the late 30's. My grandmother collected his art

Sunday Nov 21 is the Fine Arts Chorale concert. My head is filled with Mozart and Haydn's Latin masses. What a lovely thing to have in my head, Rocks and Latin

Week-End Work

The South Shore Art Center  www.ssac.org opened a new satelite Gallery in Hingham at the Shipyard last week. Kimberlee Alemian [sorry for the fuzzy photo] www.kcalemian.com gave a challanging drawing workshop this past week-end.
We worked on huge pieces of good quality watercolor paper using black and white paint and charcoal.

We had to work quickly for timed intervals while the model posed. There was no heat in the building so we took advantage of the loud music to move our whole bodies while making large, lose gestures.

OLD FAVs

This month our Challenge group topic is FASHION.
OY! I have never felt very comfortable keeping up with that venue, however style and being comfortable with your look is another story. I have had these wonderful boots for 15 years...they still make me feel great when I put them on.

LOOSE INTERPRETATION

The ARTS WALK was a huge success. Imagine seeing 300 people smiling. That is what I saw. Perfect day. 50 great artists and wonderful musicians playing all around the Square. The Harbor Jazz quartet made North Street Studio a chilled out, cool place to be.

Back to routine. Turkey Hill is a great place to paint.

NO MORE TOMATOES

This is the 3rd Palette knife TOMATO painting. I hate to see the season end. I love everything about tomatoes.I love to grow them, eat them, cook with them and especially look at the bounty over flowing on a beautiful plate or or in a bowl.

BOAT

Here is my timid attempt at using Black. I have to re program my brain. I have never used black before. The saturation of the colors isn't very good on this blog.

Back to Old Favorites

These two watercolors were painted 15-20 years ago! I guess not much has changed.
Notice the blue napkin with green circles?
Another recurring icon in my still lifes is this blue vase, which was hand made by the famous glass artist MICHAEL GLANCY. Don't bother looking for his blogsite or website, he is too big time. You can see a sample of his pieces on www, ARTNET

THE BIG APPLE

What a great experience in NYC . My first night staying with my friend, artist Lynn Cooper in the East Village. She is a portrait painter and can be contacted at enki2000@aol.com. We went to a way cool POETRY PROJECT at St Marks church commemorating Peter Orlavsky, Alan Ginsburg's partner. The beat generation lives.

The next piece of art I hung out with..a visitor from the west coast, Dr. Einstein

HEART WORK

Painting figures isn't my strength and I admire artists who do it with ease. This was a real struggle. The beauty of acrylics is that you can just keep plugging until something OK appears. This is a section of a larger painting
