THE BEAUTY OF GREY

This is a piece of the larger painting I completed this week-end. The piece is 25x40
You can se it at my
OPEN STUDIO this coming Friday
June 22  5-8
featuring my new work and we will be having a wine tasting. FUN!

Saw a lot of wonderful art this past week-end.
The South Shore Arts Festival represented so many gifted painters. This area is a mecca for painters.

I also saw the George Nick and his students exhibit at the Duxbury Art Complex. It was fantastic. Here are some comments from his students, now very accomplished artists.

Keep an eye out for values, tone, temperature and hue.
Be present in your process.
Simplify shapes, mark making and SQUINT.
Dig deep, make it meaningful
FEEL the color and light

Famous now, students of Nick

When in school, they spent an entire semester working with shades of grey!
What an idea!!

GETTING IN THE GROOVE

Sometimes life gets in the way and I fall out of my painting flow. It is helpful for me to just slurp paint around expecting nothing to get myself back in the mood. This is a little study for a bigger piece that I am now working on....re doing an older painting I did that sold so quickly I never had time to show it

EASEL DOES IT

Soooooo....Let's just call it a little too 'right brained' after an incredible Polarity Therapy conference in Albuqerque NM. I actually spaced out the correct time of my flight back to Boston and missed my flight  !!!!!!!!

Soooooo...I used the time for a later flight as creatively as possible! I whipped this painting off in the hotel lobby !!!!!!! for an overdue post for the fabulous GJWP . Luckily the folks in New Mexico are pretty open minded and didn't think me weird at all.
I used the saran wrap surrounding the plastic cups for a palette on top of a tray (I am not staying at the Ritz), squeezed out some gobs of paint, one brush.... did my best to get the values down first go around. I used my phone to record the picture (not great), posted and headed right out for the airport
Yikes!

Some cool art in Santa Fe

ALBUQUERQUE

Today I get out of bed in Albuquerque! I am attending the American Polarity Therapy Association Conference for the next 4 days.

You can read more about this beautiful healing work on my web site here. Click onto HEALING ARTS under Portfolio.

POLARITY THERAPY is a comprehensive body centered therapy, based on the Ayurvedic system of elements that clears and balances the flow of "life energy". Ayurveda is a 4000-year-old science of preventative health and self healing which attempts to maximize homeostasis. Hands on bodywork releases blocks that build up in the physical and psycho-emotional realm, breaking up unconscious patterns, creating new space for transformation and restoration to occur.

HIKING

SECLUDED BEACH
8x8
palette knife acrylico

This year I have done a lot hikes through the jungle. The hike begins with a bus ride about 30 minutes long heading south along the coast to a small town called Boca. The hike takes about one hour and a half each way..the pleasurable destination being a secluded beach equipped with a restaurant serving grilled fish, excellent margueritas and music. There is the option of taking a boat either way too. This is living!

QUALITY

This was a tough composition to stuff onto this shaped canvas..a more vertical would have been better suited to the subject. I was feeling quality marks and brush strokes as the paint roughed itself on..it felt good. The piece has a lot of texture that doesn't show up well from this photo. This is a great casa and it was a joy to paint there. Thanks Linda E. It actually looks better in person.

VENTANA

VENTANA
8x8

The architecture is so charming and simple here in Mexico

A special Good Bye to my teacher of painting and more importantly...of life and right attitude.

ROS FARBUSH died on Feb 17.

I had the pleasure of knowing her for many years. I got to paint with her on the South Shore of Boston, in Boston on the streets, on Cape Cod, in San Miguelle D'Allende and last year in Puerto Vallarta. She was a true FREE spirit. I love her and will really miss her as will many many of us.
