I woke up smiling on my last day in Provincetown with visions of color, shapes, values swirling around my brain. This has been a wonderful experience and hard to leave. I took a plein air oil class with Mary Giammarino, fellow Rowley Gallery artist yesterday. We painted with putty knives.
I also attended Stephanie Roberts Camello's Opening at the School House Gallery last night. Love her work.
When NANCY HARTLEY shows where she is going with her work...I listen up! She took JENNY NELSON'S workshop a couple of weeks ago in CA and I was impressed. I also noticed that Jenny was teaching a workshop right here in Provincetown at The Provincetown Art Museum. 12 hours later, I too was doing these different exercises...Stay tuned.
My last week in P-Town. Have I stayed too long at the fair ? Missing my guys
Lots of great ART at THE ROWLEY GALLERY. Come to the Reception and my DEMO at 76 Route 6A in Orleans MA on Saturday. The Gallery is terrific this year. The Rowley has wonderful new artists and a snazzy new look
I am so proud for beautiful person and artist Lisa Daria Kennedy. She received her MFA from Mass College of Art and Design yesterday and displayed her new work at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown last night at the 2013 MFA Thesis Exhibit. INCREDIBLE WORK ! Congratulations to Lisa.
Folks, we have got a wrestling match underway. This full on painting may sound like a dream (AND IT IS) but the shadow side prevails. This is a section of a larger painting. When it is ready it will appear.
This is larger than my usual. I am taking the time to work on things that don't come easily. There is so much inspiring Art to see here in P-Town. I am stretched in all directions.....as I observe so many styles I like.....and this feels confusing.
I plan on posting more than usual this month as I have taken on the leslie Saeta 30 day paint challenge. Whoa! What was I thinking?
Rainy, foggy days in P-Town make Studio painting a blast. I am working on a 4x5 foot canvas this week. Here is a little warm up painting for the biggie.
Luxurious Late Summer Read
The topic for this months GJWP challenge is RITUAL. I have a quiet annual ritual. At the end of every summer I slip down to a beach by myself and spend the afternoon reading a juicy book...so indulgent..love it.
