I am happy to have been a participant in the 30 day challenge and am REALLY happy to have it end! OY!It has been a great motivator and I am itching to take the same time to paint BIGGER and in a more relaxed fashion. I am going to do one or two more river scenes as possibilities for the RIVERFEST poster. Actually...I might re work this one to be  more interesting. Stay tuned.

The 30  paintings in a month is beating me up! When time is pinched, I am taking old, unsuccessful pieces and re painting over them.  I am gathering a collection of Puerto Vallarta scenes to put in a cool artisan shop here. More on that to come

Thursday Class was great this morning. We warmed up with a contour drawing to keep the shapes simple. We then painted only dark and light to exaggerate DRAMA.

Barb Crompton makes life in Puerto Vallarta excellent. She is a wonderful yoga teacher and leads a hike every Wednesday. We take a bus south to a little town called Boca. We hike along the edge of a mountain for an hour and a half to a beach that can only be reached by foot or boat and have margueritas, shrimp cocktail and guacamole. How does that sound? Then we return by  boat to Boca and then the bus back to Puerto Vallarta…all smiles

Today I was inspired by the work of  CAROLE RABE. She is featured in THE ART ROOM, a great blogspot of artist Taryn Day's. I watched Carole do a Demonstration at THE ROWLEY GALLERY a couple of months ago. She is all about beautiful greys.

Today was Day 1 of my weekly Winter classes in Puerto Vallarta. Really talented, creative group. This was a  quick Demo that I did. I futzed with it  bit after class.

Kelley MacDonald has asked me to describe my process. It is VERY simple. I am using canvas paper for these 30 challenge pieces. I draw a square and a very lose rough drawing of what I want to paint inside the square with a sharpie pen or a piece of charcoal. Then I begin putting the jig saw puzzle together..usually lay my darks in and then all hell breaks lose and color starts flying off the brushes :)

My painting is ho hum so I am sharing with you some local Mexican color.

This vehicle is parked in front of my building every day. I don't know why my neighbors complain !!!!!!!  ????? Every so often..the musical instruments come out and the party begins around 12 AM….Ahh Youth and hippies still alive!
