PAINTING AN OBJECT

WISHING WELL
6x6
I have been asked to paint a "Wishing Well" for a wedding present. It is challenging to pant an object rather than a feeling. This is one of the  studies for a larger painting. How to funk up a wishing well and make it a joy for the bride and groom and still feel proud that the work is not just a pretty picture. Any ideas?

THE GREAT ESCAPE

THE GREAT ESCAPE
6x6
This months GJWP challenge is an interpretation of E E Cummings poem "Maggie and Millie and Molly and May" My painting is a lose interpretation of his poem. I used a different metaphor than the sea. I doubt if EE would mind. I mean.... what's that poem about?
I also want to give some credit to my 7 year old great nieces Maggie and Ava for showing me how to paint a butterfly!

WEST COAST ART

I had the good fortune of meeting Marguerite Elliot on my trip in CA. She is an artist, curator and video producer in the Bay area. Her small and large scale mixed media pieces concern socio/political, environmental and feminist issues. I went up to Ross CA and saw her current exhibit at Sam the Butcher Gallery.

Other news. I will be painting at a garden in the Orleans 25th Annual Garden Tour tomorrow with a Reception to follow at  THE ELIZABETH ROWLEY GALLERY from 4-6.
Also
I am happy to be participating in the THE COPLEY SOCIETY Summer Members Juried Exhibit. The Opening is next Saturday June 29.

This coming week-end is the SOUTH SHORE ARTS FESTIVAL. I will be missing it as I am in California doing other creative work....working with Dr. Einstein. However I will be well represented at the Festival. This painting can be seen in the ART tent and I am proud to have my painting DUET be the poster painting for the Festival and the program cover for the event.

NORTH STREET STUDIO

This is THE best Studio one could have. It can be a big old mess when I am painting and it "cleans up real good" when I want to show it off. Come and visit on Sunday 1- 4...Be there in the Square

MARSH SHADOW

MARSH SHADOW

Commissions are brutal. It seems people have an image in their mind of what they want to see but the problem is the painter can't see that same image. Here are 2 paintings of the commissioned view. Which would YOU choose?

Mark your calendar:
Sunday MAY 19 1-4 PM
OPEN STUDIO in the old NORTH STREET STUDIO space.
