POEMS
A dark painting for the darkest time of the year.
The christmas song from Christina Rosetti's poem runs through my head
IN THE BLEAK MID WINTER
FROSTY WIND MADE MOAN
EARTH STOOD HARD AS IRON
WATER LIKE A STONE
SNOW HAD FALLEN - SNOW ON SNOW
SNOW ON SNOW
IN THE BLEAK MID WINTER
LONG AGO
Here is a poem I wrote for the chaotic, shifting times we are in
IT IS OPEN NOW!
NO TURNING BACK
GIVING NEW BIRTH
LETTING GO OF THE PACK
TRUST
GRACE
JOY
LAUGH
WHO WILL FALL
WHO WILL SOAR
GUIDES SMILE ............................AS THEY GENTLY AND FIRMLY NUDGE US THROUGH THE DOOR

GJWP
Proud Artist |
Girls Just wanna Paint
The GJWP challenge was to paint like Van Gogh. I struggled with this neat idea and some of the paintings are very, very good. Mine seems to look like a Railsback.
FIELD 6x6Besides being a blocked painter recently, enjoying Thanksgiving with friends and my God daughter, artist, Lillian Graham and having a wonderful Birthday.... I went to NYC with fellow blogger Pam Copeman and had the pleasure of seeing MATISSE at the Metropolitan Museum. I also got to meet my nephew's pup

PROUD
Isn't the definition of insanity, doing the same thing and expecting a different result? I always have fresh roses on my kitchen table and I just can't resist painting them.

Oh Balls!
I painted this as a warm up in my Painting class. I could not figure out why the acrylic paints would not mix easily. I figured they must have been frozen one too many a time. I muscled on through hammering the paint onto the board. When my brushes wouldn't wash out and I had cobalt blue all over my hands, I realized I was mixing oil and water. Details...

By the way a detail correction that needs to be rectified. Check out this fabulous Blogger's site. Celeste Bergin
Two wonderful events taking place next week-end. How to be in 2 places at the same time? The Fine Arts Chorale is impeccable with Director Richard Travers on Sunday Nov 18 at 2 PM. I have 4 tickets to sell, $15 each.

I painted this from photos I took while on Martha's Vineyard. I was also using a smaller painting as a reference. But the darn paints and brushes have a mind of their own.

MONHEGAN ISLAND
Getting off the ferry and walking onto Monhegan Island, Maine felt like being HOME. My grandmother used to summer there so most of the art I grew up surrounded by in my childhood home was collected in the 30's from artists painting on the island.
I had the pleasure of going to Kevin Beers open studio. Click here to see his colorful, light filled paintings. He shared some of his color combinations for his green which he always mixes...naples yellow, ultra marine blue-violet and some black to deepen the green. I didn't have those colors but experimented with ochre and white and ultra blue and black..fun to try new combos.
The best part was when he told me he had heard about a cool group from my area on the South Shore of Boston called GIRLS JUST WANNA PAINT. Loved that!
